Application Areas

The real-time hardware based on PowerPC technology and its set of I/O interfaces make the DS1104 R&D Controller Board an ideal solution for developing smaller control applications in various fields, such as drives, robotics, and medical engineering. The board is used in many university laboratories.


Key Benefits

The DS1104 R&D Controller Board upgrades a PC to a development system for rapid control prototyping. The board can be installed in virtually any PC with a free PCI or PCIe slot. Used with Real-Time Interface (RTI), it is fully programmable from the Simulink block diagram environment and all I/O can be configured graphically. This is a quick and easy way to implement and test new control functions in a real environment.

Using Real-Time Interface

With Real-Time Interface (RTI), new function models can be easily implemented on the DS1104 R&D Controller Board. The RTI I/O blocks can be inserted into a Simulink block diagram to connect the function model with the I/O interfaces and to configure all I/O graphically. After the configuration, the real-time model code can be generated, compiled and downloaded to the DS1104 automatically. This reduces the implementation time to a minimum.
